Okay, a lot of people are probably going to hate me after this post. Right now I really don't give a damn. I've been getting more and more irritated by a couple of things and the dam's finally burst.
The first thing that's royaly pissing me off is illegal immigration and the freaking media (and the ACLU's) attacks against anyone who is against people doing the right thing and observing these folks and calling the Border Patrol. They need to back the hell off.
The people crossing our borders in droves (something like 4,000 or more a month in places) are NOT goddamn "undocumented workers" or "undocumented immigrants"! They're illegals. They are illegally crossing into our country. Granted, many of them just want a better life and I honestly can sympathize with them. But, there are legal ways to come into these United States.
It costs our government billions every year in the prisons and in health care because of this problem. Legal citizens, people either born and bred here or naturalized, have their insurance hiked to pay for it (and people without insurance have to pay more for those with). Taxes, both State and Federal, are raised to pay for the problem as well.
Part of the problem is businesses that abuse the illegals by paying them a pittance for their services. The people who come in are willing to work for anything and businesses take advantage of that. Something has to be done there. But, no. If you try to do anything to secure the borders or against the businesses that attract illegals, then you're seen as a damn racist!
Just this weekend I was watching The Today Show on NBC and they were talking about it. What's the first image you see? A Confederate Battle Flag. Now, I see nothing wrong with the flag because I know the true history behind it, both good and bad. But, because so many have been told only one version of history, the first thing they think when they see it is "racists". Real subtle NBC. Makese me freaking sick.
The ACLU is watching the Minutemen to make sure the "undocumented workers" "rights" aren't abused. Some fool, I can't remember who, has even suggested they have Constitutional rights. I'm sorry, citizens have Constitutional rights, not illegals.
Now, on to my second pet peeve of the month: "Poverty in Africa/Asia/Anywhere but the good ol' US of A". I feel sorry for those folks. God knows, the children and adults in the affected countries need help. No one, anywhere, should be so impoverished as they are. But, why the hell do we put so much emphasis on those areas? What about the impoverished in Harlem, in Detroit, on Church Street in my home town? Jesus Fucking Christ, think about your own sometimes people! How the hell can we help people on another damn continent when we can't (fuck that -- WON'T!) even help ourselves?
There is a balance to all things, and there is a balance to this as well. Send money to some of the organizations which help the impoverished, but spend some time in your own home town/county helping the people here. There are about eight million homeless in this Republic of ours. There are about five million who are living paycheck to paycheck. One missed bill and they are out on the street. Think about that for just a minute. It's absolutely ridiculous.
